Black Sea Dolphin Calf Born at Moskvarium (Russia)

A Black Sea bottlenose dolphin calf was born at the Center for Oceanography and Marine Biology "Moskvarium." This was reported by the aquarium's press service on Tuesday, September 23.

The female named Nota has become a mother again— in 2023, she gave birth to a calf named Loki. The birthing process was closely monitored by a team of veterinarians and trainers, ready to provide assistance at any moment.

The dolphin calf is in excellent condition, spending most of its time near its mother. The Moskvarium's veterinary service monitors its health around the clock. Special attention is given to establishing the breastfeeding process.

Additionally, they control the habitat parameters: temperature, water composition, lighting levels, and other key indicators.

The calf is developing well—it already swims confidently, makes turns, feeds actively on mother's milk, and enjoys playing with its mom. The calf's favorite activity is playing with air bubbles.

On June 3, the Moscow Zoo's press service revealed the sex of the ninth cub of the capybara pair Kuzma and Malaya—it turned out to be a boy.
