International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer | 16 September

On September 16, 2025, the world celebrated the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer, established by UN resolution (A/RES/49/114). This day is dedicated to the successes of the Montreal Protocol, thanks to which the ozone layer is gradually recovering. Ozone protects living nature from harmful ultraviolet radiation, preventing skin cancer and preserving ecosystems. In 2025, activities included educational programs, scientific forums, and calls for further reduction in the use of ozone-depleting substances.
