Key decisions include the creation of a "Leaders' Framework Declaration on Climate Finance" to provide affordable financing for green projects in developing countries and the establishment of the "BRICS Laboratory on Trade, Climate and Sustainable Development." A memorandum of partnership on carbon markets was also signed, and the "Clean Rivers BRICS" and "Urban Environmental Sustainability Partnership" initiatives were launched. These decisions aim to prepare for COP30, which will be held in Belém in November 2025.
